Grimm’s Sasha Roiz Talks Ripper Effect, Teases New Relationship

One of last season’s biggest mysteries on NBC’s supernatural drama was the identity of the Grim Reaper Grimm Ripper.

For Sasha Roiz, who plays Captain Sean Renard and Season 4’s menacing serial killer, getting to play a bad guy was a blast.

We recently visited the set of Grimm in Portland, Oregon, and spoke to Sasha about the juicy storyline, and even previewed what’s to come in future episodes.

“It’s always fun to venture out of character,” he tells OMFGTV. “It’s a rare thing sometimes on this kind of show so that was a lot of fun.”

Roiz had so much fun that he hopes it won’t be too long before we see Captain Renard’s bad side return. “I’d like to see him get dark again. I like him dark. I think he’s been nice too long.”

Before his turn as Jack the Ripper, one of the fun things we got to see was Renard’s on-again-off-again relationship with Adalind (Claire Coffee).

On whether or not Sean and Adalind will rekindle their relationship, he says that any romantic interest in Adalind is now pretty much non-existent, adding “If he does [have feelings towards her], he certainly doesn’t show ’em. That’s a very complicated relationship too, as are almost all his relationships.”

Looks like Captain Sean Renard will once again get another dose of complicated. “Renard has a relationship blossoming,” he reveals. “It’s a very — like most of his relationships — very dysfunctional. It’ll definitely present itself in a few episodes from now.”

As for the rest of the season and for the rest of the gang, signs point to no shortage of craziness.

What’s coming up? “Much more violent and chaotic sense of rebellion that’s surfacing– this whole Wesen underworld that’s just spilling over and gonna run havoc all over Portland and the entire world for that matter,” Roiz previews. “It’s just going to get wilder and more violent and more dangerous for all the characters.”

Grimm airs Fridays at 9pm on NBC.
