SYFY’s Van Helsing hit us with an emotion-packed episode Friday night! Not only did it have action, but it also had suspense and darkness. Lots of darkness. Violet and Ivory reunite with the Sisterhood and do their best against the darkness Dracula sent for them. ‘Sisterhunt,’ was written by Gorrman Lee and Waneta Storms, and directed by Kimani Ray Smith.
Hunted | Violet (Keeya King) and Ivory (Jennifer Cheon Garcia) have met up with the remaining human members of The Sisterhood and set off on their way to the White House. They don’t make it very far when they begin to be hunted by the mysterious thing the Dark One sent after them. Claire (Christina Meredith Lewall) becomes the first victim of the Vanator while she is on night watch. The rest of the party find her the next morning and are horrified to see her heart had been cut out. They flee and find an abandoned house to stay in.
While clearing the house Mira (Briana Skye) and Zuma (Kat Ruston) are attacked by desert vamps upstairs and have to be saved by Violet and Ivory. Ivory is furious they didn’t defend themselves, but they were too overcome by human emotions to react. These were feeling they hadn’t felt in centuries.
They continue to clear the house and Zuma becomes the next victim of the Vanator down in the basement. She ends up getting the amulet from Violet and almost has it open when Ivory decapitates her.
Violet becomes the next victim of the Vanator and is lured outside by the sound of Jack’s (Nicole Muñoz) voice. But it isn’t Jack, the Vanator takes control of her and she is about to open the amulet when Ivory throws a dagger into her heart, temporarily killing her.
The Darkness | Mira is the next person the Vanator targets. She tries to fight it off, but knows she can’t do it and decapitates herself to save Violet and Ivory. And then there were two.
Ivory is horrified of the things she’s done in the past, she knows darkness. But she’s worried Violet hasn’t and will be more vulnerable to it. Violet suddenly realizes what she has to do. She must invite the darkness in to defeat the Vanator. She ingests the Dark One’s energy from the amulet and summons the Vanator. She tells him he has fulfilled his duty and he self-destructs. She then purges the darkness back into the amulet. Now she knows darkness.
Jack | Violet and Ivory are getting ready to get back on the road when Violet makes an interesting discovery in her Vampire book. The picture of Jack, and a passage about her stating she lived from 2000-1778. There are also coordinates hidden under the photo, possibly a clue from Jack. Violet realizes the coordinates are on the East Coast, so they head off in that direction to see what Jack has left for them.
