Exclusive: Actress Sarah Wynter on Her Work With Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In America
PopWire was fortunate to speak with Goliath actress Sarah Wynter about her Amazon series, her TV preferences, and her volunteer work. Below, we talk with Sarah about her passionate volunteer work for gun safety and have a little fun fantasizing about in-costume Instagram shots.
As a mother of young boys, Sarah is passionate about gun safety and is very involved in Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and was excited to talk about her work. “[The organization] was started just after Sandy Hook by Shannon Watts who was a mom of five. [She] was horrified that this thing had happened and she couldn’t believe there wasn’t a movement like Mothers Against Drunk Driving which really changed the face and the landscape of drinking and driving and how people were punished for that and how that was legislated.”

Sarah has always been active in gun safety and believes they are making progress but can always do better. “There have to be ways to counter balance the, ‘everyone should own a gun/have a gun’, and it be limitless. It’s all about promoting background checks in every state, and educating people who do own firearms to keep them locked up, and keep the ammunition away from the gun. So many accidents happen with children finding their grandparents’ pistol in a purse or under the bed. Every day I feel like something terrible happens with a toddler and a gun and something has to give.”
While she knows they have a long way to go, she is optimistic about the progress already made and is always happy to talk about her volunteer work if someone asks. “We’ve got a long way to go but I think this time in America has been a very interesting, politically speaking, time for this conversation. Gun safety/gun control used to be a third rail topic and now it’s front and center and that is great. That is really encouraging.”

For fun, we asked her if she could be on any show, past of present, what would it be and her immediate answer was Game of Thrones. “I think Game of Thrones would be amazing because these characters are like gods. They’re like these mythical, fantasy, fantastical characters that are like out of books. They are very Lord-of-the-Rings-like and I think something so full of romanticism and violence and family drama and DRAGONS (laughs) would be fun. And I mean obviously it’s such a well written show and huge and popular and it draws great actors.”
Even more than the fantasy element, the wardrobes the actors get to wear are something she wants to get her hands on. “I mean frankly I just want to get in one of those costumes because I mean, that would make a good Instagram shot (laughs).” Not to be outdone, the idea of being a zombie on The Walking Dead also got her excited. “I’d love to play a zombie, just once. Just once. A Walker. (laughs) We all have a bucket list.”
