“The 100” Recap: Return of Spacewalker
The 100 writers did it again, last night’s episode was killer! It was the perfect balance of knowledge and power, Raven has the knowledge to save them all and Roan has the power of Azgeda. Here is what went down in “The Tinder Box”, written by Charmaine De Grate.
Zero Gravity is Key | At Becca’s lab Abby (Paige Turco) and Jackson (Sachin Sahel) discuss nightblood, they’re struggling to figure out how Becca created it. Raven (Lindsey Morgan) has severe pain in her head, then begins to float above the room like she’s in zero gravity. She was actually having a seizure, but the seizure/vision triggered something. Raven looks around and realizes Becca went into space to make nightblood, and they can too. There is a ship that can take one of them.
Abby and Jackson scan Raven’s brain after her seizure and they notice that she’s using much more of her brain than the typical person. But they also notice something else, she’s had a stroke. Because Raven was removed from the City of Light by an EMP and not the kill switch she was removed with some of A.L.I.E.’s code, and Becca’s smarts, left in her head. Abby warns Raven of the dangers of using her brain that way, it’ll kill her. But the way Raven sees it is that she will use her brain to save human kind, even if it means sacrificing herself in return. She’s going to space! She just needs to get some fuel first, and we know exactly where she can get that.
Jackson asks Abby if she’s been having any headaches, she was removed from the CoL the same way as Raven, brain damage is possible for her too. She reassures him she’s fine, but later she hallucinates Clarke (Eliza Taylor) with radiation covered skin warning them they’re running out of time.

“Azgeda is coming” | Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) is found by Ilian (Chai Hansen) on her way back to Arkadia, she’s still bleeding, and by the time they reach Arkadia she has stopped breathing. Clarke performs CPR and O regains consciousness long enough to warn them of Azgeda’s approach. Clarke takes several members of the guard with her to stop Roan (Zach McGowan) and his warriors from attacking. While she’s gone she left Ilian alone in Arkadia. How could she have known he’s on a mission to destroy all tech? And what is the Ark? A giant ball of tech just waiting to be exploded, which is exactly what the boy did. Octavia and Niylah (Jessica Harmon) were inside trying to stop him, but were unable to. Ilian does not want to kill, though, so he helps them out of the burning wreckage. Now their backup plan is gone.
“We bind ourselves with blood.” | In an attempt to stop a massacre, Clarke agrees with Roan’s demand. 50 people from Skaikru and 50 people from Azgeda will share the Ark if their nightblood plan doesn’t work. But while Clarke and Roan are talking, Riley (Ben Sullivan) –who shouldn’t even be there– sneaks off to kill Roan. Monty (Christopher Larkin) notices and goes down to warn Echo (Tasya Teles) of a possible attack. She takes Bellamy (Bob Morley) with her and they track down Riley and convince him not to pull the trigger. Just as they settle the Riley drama they see the explosion of the Ark in the distance. They all rush to Arkadia, including the grounders, and witness the destruction of their viable solution for survival going up in flames.
Other Thoughts:
• Roan reminding Clarke how Lexa rose above her own people to lead all the people was amazing, hopefully this is the reminder she needed to start leading the way Lexa did.
• Bellamy and Octavia finally seeing each other and hugging was precious, he’s an amazing older brother.
• Why was Riley there with a weapon?!?!? They could have avoided all that unnecessary drama if they had just left him behind in Arkadia.
• There’s no way Skaikru would have been willing to share the Ark with Ice Nation, there’s too much bad blood between them. But now that Azgeda is in Arkadia, will they be staying to help?
What’s going to happen now that Plan B has blown up and Plan A needs fuel to get to space? Will Abby and Raven be able to keep their brains healthy long enough to save the world, or will they push themselves and just go crazy instead? Will Clarke take Roan’s advice and start thinking of all the people and not just Skaikru?
The 100 returns to The CW March 15 at 9pm with an all new episode!
