“The 100” Recap | There’s a New Flamekeeper In Town

A lot went down in last night’s episode of The 100. Roan wants Octavia to assassinate someone new, Raven makes a horrible discovery, and Jaha may know a way to save them all. “The Four Horsemen” was written by Heidi Cole McAdams and directed by P.J. Pesce.

“People fell in line behind The Flame, now they’ll fall in line behind The Sword.” | In Polis, King Roan (Zach McGowan) discreetly approaches Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) and Indra (Adina Porter) in the streets. He needs O to use her ninja skills to kill the person who broke into his chambers and stole The Flame. He is certain it was stolen by a female flamekeeper. Octavia agrees and hunts down the thief, but is followed by Ilian (Chai Romruen) and his cronies. She’s about to kill the flamekeeper to retrieve The Flame when Indra stops her. The flamekeeper is her daughter, Gaia (Tati Gabrielle). Octavia knows she must spare the girl so she quickly devises a plan to save them all. She switches The Flame with Gaia’s fake flame necklace and let Ilian and his band of bafoons destroy it. Gaia gets away with the real Flame, to try to find more nightbloods, and Octavia tells Roan The Flame has been destroyed by thieves.

“It’s already here.” | Things aren’t really looking up in Arkadia. Luna (Nadia Hilker) and what’s left of their clan show up at Arkadia’s front gates showing signs of Acute Radiation Sickness (ARS). After learning that all the fish are dying, Raven (Lindsey Morgan) makes a horrible discovery; ALIE was wrong, they’ve only got 2 months left. Jaha (Isaiah Washington) thinks he may know of a bunker that can hold 1000 people, so Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and Bellamy (Bob Morley) set off with him to look for it. But before leaving, Raven tells Clarke she needs to make a list of the 100 people that will get a spot in the Ark if the bunker isn’t real.

Raven is the one in charge of rationing all the supplies, so when Abby (Paige Turco) comes to her seeking ARS pills for the girl dying, Raven denies her them. She is now getting a taste of what Clarke has had to go through making tough decisions to save her people. Unbeknownst to Raven and Abby, John Murphy (Richard Harmon) is also in the room and hears everything. He steals the pills for Abby and convinces Emori (Luisa D’Oliveira) they need to stay. The pills don’t help the girl, and she dies. Everyone with ARS dies; everyone but Luna. Her symptoms are disappearing, and Abby knows the reason: nightblood.

“From the ashes, we will rise.” | Clarke, Jaha, and Bellamy find the hidden bunker and, with some help from the rover, pry open the door. The inside is filled with hundreds of bodies, the bunker didn’t keep out the radiation. Later, Clarke makes the list of the 100 who will survive the radiation aboard the Ark. She puts Bellamy as #99, but struggles to put herself as #100. Bellamy refuses to be in the Ark without her, so he takes the list and adds her name. After he leaves, she rips out the list and throws it away.

Looks like Abby and Raven have a solution to the radiation problem, nightblood. But how will they turn that into a solution that will help everyone? And how will Roan take the news? He believes The Flame has been destroyed, will he continue to honor the alliance with Skaikru?

The 100 airs Wednesdays at 9pm on The CW.
